Transcription notes
Lettered UL: "Rembrandt". Watermark: bunch of grapes. Plate 13.5 x 10.3 cm. CORRECTION, 12 August 2026. This row previously recorded no state and stated that the museum's IDENTIFICATION, SIGNATURE/INSCRIPTION/MARKS and DIMENSIONS headings were "present but EMPTY", and on that basis rejected a web-search summary that called this impression a third state of four. That was wrong. The headings are collapsed disclosure panels: their contents are in the served markup and open on click. The summary was right and the project was wrong to reject it. See CH-002. This is the only impression in the census catalogued in the same state as NP-RMB-001, and its image is CC0, so it is now also a comparator (risd-84-198-1269). RISD's label copy refers to 'the two versions of Self-Portrait in a Velvet Cap with Plume', which may indicate a second RISD impression or a loan; not resolved - see open_questions.
